This was our first stop on our vacation, and we immediately felt welcome and comfortable. We used the bus to get into Edinburgh at Waverly Bridge and walked only a few minutes to our hotel, made more convenient with rolling luggage. The view of the castle, and the hustle and bustle of Edinburgh, was thrilling. The location is easy to find, as there were street signs pointing to the premises, and served as a central base to explore the city. There was some construction going on across the street, but they did have passage ways around it. At the bottom of the hill was the Omni Centre, which sported a wide variety of eateries and pubs for "clocking off" (happy hour). The Hertz office is at the bottom of the hill as well. There is also a mall across the street, but it is very Americanized. The desk staff tried to be helpful, but was less knowleadgable about surrounding businesses. The breakfast crew was happy and upbeat, and made our mornings delightful. The rooms were large enough to work comfortably in, but not overly spacious. And each one has a stuffed Scottish Terrier to keep you company. There is also a small lounge in front, operated by the desk staff, which had a nice, warm feel to it. We are used to staying at B&B's in Scotland, but since the Fringe Festival was going on most were already booked. We found this to be a decent hotel and convenient place to stay, and were satisfied with our stay.

I was on business in Northern Ireland, and wife was along. We decided on a last-minute weekend get-away to Scotland, just because we could. After searching hostels and being disappointed at the cost, location, and other details, I came across the Parliament Hotel, and booked it based on price and reviews. We were NOT disappointed in any way! We arrived about 12:30 am on the bus, and took a cab ride to the motel - #2.50. We were surprised at how close it ended up to be - only about 1 block away from the Andrews bus station. First impression, from the rainy dark night, was that this was going to be another old, dilapidated motel. Boy, was that wrong! The lobby was very nice and comfortable, and had plenty of chairs and areas to read or talk, and a full sampling of whisky's. We were greeted warmly by B, the night manager, who was MORE than friendly, courteous, and helpful. He brought us to our room and showed us around, pointing out the lights and such. The room was the cleanest hotel room I have ever been in, and the price was cheaper than private rooms in hostels. We had a king-size bed in a very nice room that was obviously taken care of. The bathroom was immaculate and recently remodeled. The staff was superb, and food was great! The room was very quiet both nights we were there, however the building across the street was being worked on, so it might have been noisy during the week. Perfect location - only 2 blocks from city center and tourist stuff! LOVED THIS HOTEL!!!! ***SIDENOTE:DO NOT VISIT NORTHERN IRELAND OVER JULY 12 - they do not welcome tourists, and EVERYTHING is shut down - restaurants, tourist attractions, and whole cities!!

After we parked it took a little figuring out where this hotel was due to some revovation work happing in adjecent buildings, but once we found it, it was a good hotel with nice very friendly staff. The room was ample sized and had all the ameneties you expect, and clean without question. Breakfast was served by good keen staff and the food was wonderful - deffo stay here again!
