I have just returned from the most fantastic weekend away. On arrival it was late but driving down the driveway and seeing the castle all floodlite was amazing, It was clean warm and very comfortable. The staff were very polite and helpful. We stayed on bed and breakfast basis and the food was excellant. So to round it off it is a must visit to appriciate it.

Melville is such a perfect setting for a wedding, however it is the team who go such a long way in creating the intimate and friendly atmosphere that we experienced. Our friends and family were enchanted with Melville and its beautiful location and so many of them commented on the high level of service and friendliness of the team.

We had such a fantastic wedding day - the food, drink, organisation and general support of everyone was superb from start to finish, we were able to completely relax and enjoy ourselves. Our particular thanks to the Head Chef and his team who did such a marvellous job. We look forward with much excitement to our next stay at Melville Castle.

My family (2 adults, 2 teens) spent one night in the castle. When we arrived, we received a warm greeting from several staff members, one of which we discovered was the owner. He gave us a personal tour of the castle, and told us in detail about the renovation work, sources of artwork, furnishings, etc. He was a very cordial and amiable gentleman! The furnishings are not "old castle period" but are very classic and well done, and give the castle a warm, luxurious estate feeling. Our room was large and very nicely furnished with a huge comfortable bed. It was on the third floor, right front corner. The family suite has two bunk beds in a small but cozy room off of the main room - fine for kids. Our private bathroom was in the turret. A 50th anniversary party was being held in the bar area. The bar area was not "closed" and the bartender encouraged us to sit down and have a drink. Several of the party members came over and chatted with us - very frendly. Comments/feedback about other reviews here: - Limited TV channels - Why stay in a castle to watch TV??? - Warm rooms - Our room was a bit warm, but not uncomfortable. - Food service - our only meal that we ate at the castle was breakfast. The food selection was good and nicely prepared. We did not experience any service problems at all during breakfast. My teenage daughters, and wife, thought that our server, a teenage boy, was very cute! Every staff member we met was sincere, friendly and helpful, but they do not pamper, coddle and patronize. This was perfect for me - I find that type of service annoying, but it seems as though some reviewers here expected to be treated like royalty. We would recommend this location to our friends and would stay here again.
