We stayed 3 nights in the Mary Stuart Suite on the 6th floor and it was FANTASTIC! In addition to a huge bathroom and bedroom, we had a wonderful living and dining area. Like the other reviewer, we faced Leith Street, but unlike her, we had no noise whatsoever. The entire staff was wonderful and friendly, like all of the Scots we met. We will be back to Scotland and Edinburgh!

I stayed at The King James just one night, but I enjoyed my stay very much. The staff was really friendly and welcoming, the environment and furnishing really nice and, last but not least, it is just one step from the city centre of Edinburgh and Waverley train station. I will stay again at this hotel.

The hotel was very much like an American hotel, large lobby, modern elevators, rooms that are large by European standards, card keys. We checked in, the room was ready, clean, large, comfortable beds. Wifi is available, but not free (around 15 pounds a day). However, there was a cafe/bar across the street with free wifi. For the rate we paid in advance on online travel website, it was a good value. An added bonus was that it was a five minute walk (practically across the street) from the train station, so we did not have to take a cab to and from. Very close to Northbridge which takes you directly onto the High Street. Good location, good room, good value.

Got a great rate on venere for the Thistle Hotel. 79 pounds per night, a fantastic deal. It did not include breakfast, that was the only downside. Right in the heart of Edinburgh, 6 minutes from the train station and 3 minutes from Princes St. Also attached to the St. James mall, with access from the 3rd floor of the Thistle to the mall, which was very convenient. Wish there was a slightly higher rate that would include breakfast, as they wanted to charge us 8.5 pounds per person for breakfast - not worth it. Very nice room, and the t.v. had international CNN - the only one of all the hotels we stayed at in the UK. And some other good stations showing American movies as well. The porter was somewhat helpful, particularly with suggestions on bus tours, when attractions open/close, etc. The main clerks were not very helpful, acted like they didn't really want to help you - only as much as necessary, no more.

Great location just 2 minutes walk from Princes Street and 5 minutes walk from Waverly Station. Hotel has back door into major shopping centre where you can purchase full Scottish breakfast for around $8 (Australian).
