Hotel Arboretum - Sarvar, Hungary     

If you have a car, the drive is worth it! It will also save you some $$. (1 hour from Budapest.) I've lived in Hungary and most of my family is from there so I know that tourists can get taken for a ride when it comes to accommodations. We stayed at this small, 16 room B&B in June (2 Nights). After trying to find a reasonable accommodation in Budapest, we decided to drive an extra hour to Sarvar (near the Austrian border). Some of the hotels in Budapest were offering us conflicting prices. 1 price on the internet, a higher price on the phone or in person. Since we were heading to Italy the next day anyway, we decided to drive a bit more and stay at Arboretum. The Hotel Arboretum opened its doors in 2004, in a nice little town/health resort called Sárvár. It's close to the town center, and the modern spa we visited can be reached by foot in about 10 minutes. (Well worth soaking in the various baths even during the cold months) The staff was very nice and I'd highly recommend driving a little way to save $$. For 2 adults, it cost us 65euros/night

It was fantastic being in Sarvar. The Hotel is in a silent place, the crew is very kind to us. Prices are low, the rooms are very friendly.
