The Spa Hotel - Darlington, United Kingdom 

When we stepped through the door of the Spa Hotel the smell of stale smoke just hit you.We had booked a double room and the room we were given was more of a single room with a double bed squeezed in.Although the sheets were clean the bed spread looked like it needed a good wash.The room felt damp and the bathroom had black mould on the walls and ceiling.All rooms are on the ground floor, our room over looked the carpark, we had to keep the curtains closed,cars could park in front of our room window. This is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in.By car the retail park is fifteen minutes drive away, Darlington town centre is fifteen minutes in the other direction

If you are travelling from Durham Tees Aiport and need somewhere to stay and or park your car, I can recommend the Spa Hotel. We were travelling off to Ireland early morning and so booked to stay in the Spa for one night . We found the hotel easily as its about 500 yards from the car park in the airport. (just a couple of minutes walk). It's a small hotel but the twin room we stayed in was clean, spacious and recently refurbished. The staff were very helpful and friendly . We ate an evening meal there which consisted of a shared portion of potato skins then a main course each. The food was very nice and the portions were huge. Average cost of meal was around £7 a head. The breakfast was continental but that suited us as there was plenty of cereals to chose from. (all the good brands as well). There was toast, fruit juice and the usual tea/coffee etc which were made fresh as we sat down. The extra boost to all this was the free parking for up to 15 days, this would have cost about £50 if we had used the airport parking. All this for £34.50 per head.- What a bargain. You can just arrange with the hotel to park your car there for around £3 per day if you don't need an overnight stay. I would certainly use this hotel again when travelling from this airport.
