Using the finest local produce with the best of what is in season, dishes are cooked to order by a team with more than 30 years experience, with dietary requirements easily and effortlessly catered for.

A 3 course meal is available from as little as 9.95 GBP, with an additional á la carte menu also available.

There are also 3 meeting rooms at the hotel, with the largest able to accommodate up to 120 guests in a theatre-style arrangement.

Started as a convenient stopover for the Elton John concert in Darlington but developed into a 2 day break cos it was so comfortable and breakfasts filling enough to keep us going all day. Extra bonus was full-size bath to luxuriate in after sight-seeing in Durham. Hotel situated in smart part of town with park close by. Fab entrance door but reception resembles a youth hostel, bar inviting with comfy leather chairs, lots of sumptious sofas in reception and corridors. Bedroom bit dark with window/ventilation in adjacent split level study area. Staff very helpful and personable. Definitely best value for money accom for those wanting to explore Durham/Darlington area. On our next visit (oh yes, we'll be back) we'll make time to visit the gym/spa.

We booked this lastminute for a night away with friends. The offer was for bed, breakfast and sunday lunch for ?75 per room. The fixtures and fittings are a little dated and it could do with a lick of paint in places however the staff, bar area and location were all excellent. What also needs a mention is the standard of the food. The breakfast was excellent and sunday lunch was an extra treat which turned out to be 3 courses which would have normally cost ?11.95. Overall an enjoyable stay.
