Holiday Inn Rochester-Chatham - Chatham, United Kingdom     

I arrived quite late at night after a car journey from Stansted Airport. Check-in was friendly & efficient, despite the bar area by the reception being very full & noisy with a large group/party. The room was comfortable, clean, quiet & very pleasant, with a spotless bathroom & a very comfortable bed. The air conditioning worked well. Although I'm sometimes restless in a strange bed for the first night, I slept like a stone! Breakfast was excellent, with a full choice of fresh fruit, cereals, yoghurt, plus the full cooked breakfast buffet. Table service with coffee/tea was good. I would certainly stay here again.

The first thoughts we had when pulling up to the hotel was how dated it looked, but the ample free parking & trendy decor in the reception area soon changed our opinion. We were greeted at the front desk by a very friendly chap, and given our room keys. After a short walk & elevator ride, we arrived at our room. Initial impressions were how small the room was, but it was very cosy and tidy, and even had a fridge! As we wanted a lie-in the next morning, I called the reception, and was given confirmation that would could have the room until 2pm. The shower was really nice, and after eating out, we decided to hit the sack. Note that everything was fine up until this point. So, the bad points: * The bed was a very small & uncomfortable 'double' - My feet hung off the edge of the bed, and width wise, it was more like a 4ft! * Temperature - Even with the air conditioning on full chat, it was still unbearable. We had to resort to keeping the window open all night. * Noise - As the window was open all night, we heard a lot of noise (choppers especially) from the adjacent airport. Even when we retreated and closed the window, you could still hear background noise. * Phone Call - At approx 12:40pm, we got a call from a very snotty female receptionist, demanding to know why we hadn't checked out yet. Check out was a breeze, and again, a very friendly chap was on hand. We didn't use the restaurant or leisure facilities, so cannot comment on these. If we hadn't paid ?39 for bed & breakfast, I'd have asked to speak to Management. However, we've learned from the experience, and will stay elsewhere in future.
