Campanile Hotel Dartford - Dartford, United Kingdom     

This hotel is situated within sight of the Dartford crossing and due to its proximity to the crossing, can be difficult to find if you miss the turning coming immediately over the bridge, as I did. Once found, there is ample parking. This is the first time I had stayed with the Campanile chain, and was not expecting every member of staff to be French, as they were. Therefore, the reception greeting was a ‘frosty’ French welcome with information at a premium. The rooms are accessed by going back outside and entering the key code into the door to get into the main building. The room was cramped with barely enough room to walk around the bed. There was a chair blocking access to the wardrobe, with nowhere else for the chair to be moved to. The bathroom was clean and had the usual facilities. There was also an unnecessary door between the small corridor leading to the bathroom and the main part of the room, in an already tight fitting room this appeared unnecessary, although the door did have the only mirror(on the back of the door) to be found outside of the bathroom. The bar was quite busy in the evening, with sky sports blaring out, expensive beers for sale at the bar, but the food was good quality and reasonably priced. The breakfast was also of a good standard with the added French twist of fresh baguettes and Nutella available. Overall, this hotel is OK for an overnight stay, as any longer in the cramped bedroom could lead to claustrophobia.

We have stayed at the Campanile for Businss purposes at least a dozen times in 2006. We thought it was a great place in a quiet area, only ten minutes into the centre of town and twenty minutes to Bluewater Shopping Mall. The Restaurant was excellent, a hot buffet breakfast. For lunch a great selection of sandwiches also other dishes. Dinner, you could choose from the Buffet or A LA Carte menu, well presented and good value. rooms are very clean. Check in and out went very smoothly, no problems. We recommend this hotel for short stay only.
