Kings Arms Hotel address: 30 High Street, Amersham, HP7 0DJ

Kings Arms Hotel details: The Kings Arms is a wonderful 36 bedroom hotel set in the heart of Old Amersham. The hotel dates back to the 15th century, but was fully refurbished, extended and opened in May 2006. The hotel offers both executive and deluxe accomodation for the business and leisure traveller. The rooms all have every comfort you would expect, including broadband & LCD TV's. In the winter open fires blaze in our reception/lounge area, and also in the pub, where you can meet the locals or enjoy a quiet drink.

Our Restaurant is open for breakfast only and offers our guests a wide selection of both Continental style and English breakfasts. We also offer various teas and coffees. The Restaurant is perfect for a quick bite before the working day begins or for a long relaxing breakfast to set you up before exploring the local village.

The lounge is a comfortable area in the heart of the hotel with a wonderful inglenook fireplace which has a roaring fire ablaze during the winter months. It’s a great place to meet up with friends or colleagues before going for dinner or to the bar. This is also where our guests can enjoy a drink after our bar has closed.

I've stayed at this place two or three times in the past year (on business) and I like it. OK, there is no restaurant, but just a short stroll down the very attractive street are a couple of excellent places to eat - I recommend the littel Indian place just around the corner. The hotel rooms are well appointed and modern and, overall, I think you get the feeling that they have not tried to cut every last penny of cost, like some UK hotel chains. Pricewise, at ?120 B&B, it's on the high side, but so far I've not been disappointed.

Awful. Our wedding night - and about 5 other couples booked to stay. We had the suite. Souless - bath in room. Funny, almost office like, furniture. No minibar (just even for water), no information. Next day - completely incapable of delivering a decent breakfast to the room. Two trips - and still only 3/4 of a breakfast, no knives, no butter, no jams, milk served in a teapot. Everyone else had an even worse experience - breakfast not available in the room as they were too busy apparently. Then a 45 minute wait at least and no coffee (they had run out), milk served in ramekins. Rude, offhand staff. Finally - dirty beds, toenail clippings in one room. And the manager's response?? I don't work at the weekends. In fact, we don't have managers on at the weekends. Well, they may not want to manage at the weekends, but they certainly take your money.......... Awful. Go to the Crown just down the road. Some guests did and had a lovely time......
