Burford Lodge - Burford, United Kingdom     

We have just returned today from the Burford Lodge. It is a fantastic hotel. From the moment you arrive the staff were really friendly and helpful and made our stay really enjoyable. The bar and restaurant area is really cosy with a lovely comfy sofa and chairs. The food was really nice and the Irish and Calypso coffees were delicious. It was lovely to just sit there and chill, the staff came and took your order and you did not need to move. The breakfast is a good selection of full english, muffins, organic yogurts, fruit and cereal. The hotel is soo clean and the bedroom was a good size, lovely bathroom and shower, and nicely decorated too. A lovely weekend.

I'm never one to be downbeat but arriving at the Burford Lodge I was just ever so slightly disappointed. I did realise it was on the A40 however it was in such an uninspiring location that my heart sank a little. Burford is a lovely town it's just that this place does not feel part of it more like a better quality holiday inn stuck on the outskirts. The hotel itself was nicely decororated and had some nice touches in the bedroom but it was pretty small with just a shower in a tiny bathroom. Downstairs in the bar/restaurant area it also was a little cramped and although the staff were superb the food was a slightly overpiced for what it was. Most sadly though the mattress was really uncomfortable as I could feel almost each individual spring! I feel bad as the staff really were excellent and the breakfast was very generous i just felt it was not as good as others have previously stated.
