Nyton Hotel - Ely, United Kingdom 

Where do i start, just stay away from this man and his hotel, he is obviously a money grabber and a fraud. and his attitude is disgusting. Not worth the money! The hotel is nice, except for bathroom, which was grotty, and desperately in need of updating, I attended a wedding here, and not only was the food really bad for the money paid, the evening buffett was the leftovers put in sandwiches, which is not sausage rolls etc.... the furniture is wobbly, and the breakfast in the morning was horrid, drinks were overcharged too, the staff were over worked, and the owner has no customer care at all, an arrogant horrible man. I would not want anyone to waste money here, Be warned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hotel was booked for wedding; had it not have been we would have checked out much sooner! Our room was adequate but that is all. Certainly not worth the price paid. Other rooms used by our family were dreadful - shower too small and without a door, only a curtain which didn't reach the bottom of the shower tray so the floor was soaking; bath without a plug (told there wasn't one to fit). Food almost inedible. Breakfast was a hoot! Juice - fine. Cereal OK (can't go wrong unless you count the lack of bin in which to put the empty box). Coffee but not tea (had to ask and was provided with tea but not a clean cup, despite having used this for coffee!!). Cooked breakfast tasted like Brillo pads and when it was gone, it was gone - no more cooked and hot plate switched off. We were leaving on the Monday and were asked to pay bill on Sunday night 'to make things easier'. Little did we know that the owner has a day off on Monday. This explained the dining room and kitchen being locked up and no breakfast! Fortunately a very helpful young cleaner turned up with keys so one of the guests helped her cook breakfast! The whole place just needed a good clean and some cash spending on it. The location was fantastic and it could be a really beautiful place. Basil Fawlty would have been proud!! Wedding went off well. There was a hog roast (not provided by the hotel). All guests not staying thoroughly enjoyed themselves, mainly due to the location and pleasant weather. However, the owener was reluctant to open the bar before the wedding to help calm the groom's nerves! Had he thought about it he could have made a bit of a profit on that! Just needs a good business head to bring it together and make it work.
