Firstly - great location. Secondly - good sized, well priced rooms (booked though the mcdondald website). Thirdly - courteous, helpful staff.
Ifs and buts...a little noisy, location wise; refurb is unusual - update traditional/30s feel...not the modern style indicated on the web blurb but just fine.
Recommended.

Check in / front desk

Me and my partner stayed at this hotel for 2 nights (Fri & Sat) in March. The location is fantastic right in the centre of Chester. Check-in was quick and efficient and the first impressions of the hotel was of a high standard. Parking is on the Pepper St car park at a rate of ?7.50 per night (you have to be off the carpark by 12noon to avoid incurring an extra charge) and is about a three minute walk from the hotel. You can pull up outside the hotel to unload your cases but make sure you get good directions first otherwise you could end up getting a bit lost like we did! My only disappointment is that when I booked I opted for a suite which I was told would be at the front of the hotel, however when we got to our room both the bedroom and the living room looked out onto the rear of the hotel with no view at all. Reception did offer to move us to a smaller suite at the front of the hotel the following day when it became vacant. We decided against this as our room, the Rose Suite, was so nice it made up for the terrible view and in hindsight I think being at the front of the hotel would actually have been quite noisy. The bedroom consisted of a very large bed, a flat screen TV, built in wardrobe and dressing table/desk, the living room consisted of a small round dining table, two arm chairs, a sofa and another flat screen TV. The bathroom was a good size, although the complimentary toiletries could have been nicer with it being a suite. Everything was extremely clean. Breakfast was fruit/cereal from the buffet and you can order hot food from the kitchen and seemed to be freshly made, this was really nice and staff looked after you very well. The bar isn't very big and it doesn't have much of an atmosphere so if you are after something a bit livlier I would head to one of the bars in Chester centre.
Overall this was a very nice stay and I would definately book this hotel again.
