On arrived we were given what would only be descibied as a deployable 'Family Room' in the Oold Block to the rear ! A family room consists of a dbl.., single and roll-out bed stuffed into a room fit for only a dbl. bed. We complained and the nice and very helpful receptionist (Shelly) managed to get us a Suite which worked out well for us oner the 3 nights. Breakfast while not spectacular was more than adequate but I must say the evening meals were above average. Bar service was almost non-existant, and it appeared that there was a general lack of staff available so thoes remaining had to cover different jobs.

Stayed here in February, 2008 on business and just browsing through all the hotels I have stayed in but I was so amazed at the negative posts here I had to address the balance and tell you about my experience. Called the hotel at 8.30pm to advise that I would be late to arrive, they asked if I would like dinner, I said I would but as I would not be arriving til 9.45 I would be grateful if they could prepare a salad or something, they told me it was not a problem and they kept the restaurant open. Welcome at reception was warm, efficient and friendly, the room was comfortable not a Hilton but way better than a Holiday Inn. Dinner was great and I was served by a most obliging Oriental lady. I later found from reading the letter in the room that dinner was due to finish at 9.30. Had a beer in the bar and got talking to the manager who was having a drink with other guests, as I was unsure on how to get to the plant I was visiting he organised for directions to be left at reception on my departure. Had a peaceful and uneventful night sleep, followed by a good standard buffet breakfast in the morning. I don't understand how my experience could be so different to that other some of the people who have posted here, if anyone is in two minds about staying here, following reading some of this tosh, I suggest you call the hotel and speak with them as the service I received was from the top drawer.
