Dated decor and inefficient staff made this a stay to forget.
Rooms were basic to say the least and our 2 nite stay could not end quickly enough.
Breakfast was in itself an experience to remember, when the promised buffet breakfast turned out to be omelette or fried eggs...and despite requesting a menu we were told...No,you can have Omelette or Fried Eggs.
The restaurant decor was also extremely tired and in need of a make up.
Housekeeeping staff had a station on each floor where they spent their time playing games and viewing the net in full view of everyone...and the associated noise from them made the need for an early morning call obselete.
Despite booking a time for bags to be picked up from room for check out, this never materialised,so we had to lug the bags along the corridor and down to the reception...normally this wouldnt be an issue except for the fact that the A/C for these areas was never on,so in 38C heat it was an uncomfortable experience.
Our tour company in its paperwork mentioned that the tourist industry was still in its infancy in Vietnam and be prepared for the odd inconvienience, but this was just a poor hotel they placed us in (a supposed 4 star rating)with poor service.

Had a lovely two nights stay there on a North-South journey. Place is stunning, nice river views (on the west-facing rooms) and lovely pool and garden. Large comfortable rooms and a nice spa/massage (loved by our female half).
However some shortcomings/inbalances prevent them from 4-star, 3-star is more appropiate now; while we were there already some repainting of hallways was in progress so the management DOES work on improving:
* The pool/gym dressrooms are quite shabby, looking like still unrepaired storm/flood damage
* Bathrooms ample-sized but ours really had problems: bath tub unusable (leaking built-in closure) and shower really delivering a suboptimal volume.
* B'fast nice and luxury with even an eggstation, but only 2 bread options (compared to lots of Asian food)
