Just returned home from 2 night bank holiday stay at The Imperial Hotel, Brighton. Had a great time especially as weather was supposed to be awful on Sunday, (in fact spent a couple of hours eating and drinking alfresco in fantastic sunshine! I booked the hotel very late, only a few days before and so didn`t really expect any bargains. I looked on-line and cheapest price was ?95 per room per night for standard double. On contacting the hotel directly, they had one superior double room left which they let me have for ?110 per night. This hotel is 3star so I wasn`t expecting too much but in all honesty our room was one of the best in the UK I have stayed in. huge roon, floor to ceiling windows which opened out onto small balcony, four poster bed, high ceiling with ornate cornice work and large airy bathroom. I did see a couple of other rooms that weren`t as good but generally fine. If you want to enjoy this room the number was 119. Service was very friendly and helpful, only critisism was at breakfast on Sunday there was a bit of a queue but it was bank holiday I suppose.

The hotel was clean and the receptionist was very helpful, but the decor was very dated (far too many patterns in one room). It took us about 10-15 minutes to walk into the centre of Brighton, which would be fine in the summer but a bit far in the December gales and rain that we encountered. The lowpoint of our stay was the "shower", to call it a trickle would be a huge overstatement.
