Old Mill Hotel & Lodge - Bath, United Kingdom     

We have just returned from a 6 week trip around the UK and I can honestly say this hotel was one of 2 very disappointing stays we had in many hotels/Inns. Our room was fine with a nice view over the falls , the receptionist was informative and we booked in for dinner. We were first in the dining room at 7.15pm and were greeted by a waiter who was, to say the least, very drunk ! He managed to slur his way thro' the specials of the day and as we were the only people in the restaurant at the time we decided they would be the safest way to go ............ entree an absolute disgrace ..... mains ....... not far behind but what was an embarrassment was the fool who served us.We were joined in the dining room by two elderly ladies who just couldn't believe a man could be in such a state and still on his feet ! A single man then came in and he was obviously a friend of the waiter as all they did was giggle together which added further embarrassment to the awful situation. Stay there but don't eat there - in fact don't stay there !

Just returned from 1 night stay at this hotel. Wouldnt recommend it to future guests. First impressions on arrival were not good - felt the hotel was a little outdated and modernisation / redecoration definately needed. The info given to us by reception on arrival - how to get into bath etc was totally incorrect if you go in by bus. Best advice I can give - ask bus driver best place to get off, they are very helpful & our driver guessed correctly which hotel we were staying at so i can only assume this has happened before! Due to building work in bath for new shopping centre bus stops have been relocated & the info given by rec seems to pre-date this. we were really disappointed when we got to our room - we were in the lodge at the back of the hotel - 5 rooms on ground floor, and 5 above. We were on the ground floor - our room was very basic, small, and certainly needed to be redecorated. Bathroom absolutely tiny, barely room to move about from wc past sink to shower. Poor shower - really low water pressure and took ages to warm up. Parking can be quite difficult - car park not big enough. Also if hotel has a function on, there is loud noise very late at night & if we knew of this we would have gone elsewhere. The pictures on website are of bedrooms in hotel building, if you stay in the lodge, your room will be nothing like the pictures you see. Only good point - breakfast - good choice and very filling. Would we go back again - Definately not.
