Externally, what you may expect of a seaside hotel. Greeted at the reception by an uninterested and uninformative receptionist. Alarm bells should have been ringing when I was asked to pay in full, up front for my 2xnight business stay. The reception was untidy, the lift doors were dirty entering into a less than adequate lift space for a hotel this size. The allocated room was less than expected at ?99 per night. The room carpet was dirty, the curtains needed hoovering, then the en'suite. This facility was not only generally dirty, the shower was broken, the toilet had pubic hair on the seat. 'I will not go on'. I did go down to request some explanation but my business associate had beaten me to it and was already being ignored with issues of his own room. At its best the Brittannia is dull, lifeless and unfit for human habitation. I noted bus loads of foreign guests in the hotel, I felt the shame in advertising my country's name and emblem in such a un-deserving establishment. What an advert for our great nation.

On arrival i booked in to my room i found that my toilet window was smashed, i reported this straight away but nothing was done about it. The staff didn't seem bothered! The hotel is in need of a good clean and face lift. The room was dirty it had stains all over the carpet, i dont expect this for 99 pounds a night. The bar area had no music, when it was requested the barman said ' its normally on' but nothing was done about it. As a result of all these things i booked out early i couldn't stay another day. All the night manager could offer me was his apologies and a cup of coffee. I would not stay at this hotel again.
