I moved to this hotel as an alternative to the hotel I was booked into which had not been what I expected, so it was a last minute decision made with the help of my husband who found good reviews about The Montague on the internet. It is a delightful hotel with friendly helpful staff. The rooms are clean and, having been recently refurbished, have a modern feel but still cosy. The food in the restaurant is excellent. I was only going to eat dinner there on the first night, but after having enjoyed my meal so much on that night I decided to eat there for the rest of the week. As a lone traveller, I was really well looked after by all the staff. The hotel offers excellent value for money and in comparison with other similarly priced hotels in Bournemouth, this hotel stands out from the crowd.

What a wonderful weekend. If you're spoilt for choice-as I was-with the numerous hotels in Bournemouth, have no fear.....THIS IS THE ONE !!! Having fought against the traffic and dashed from a hectic week at work with tiresome staff and irrascible students the hotel was a welcome sight after a speedy trip down by coach from London. I booked directly with the hotel, exchanging e-mails and 'phone calls throughout the week to ensure everything was just right....and it was! Slightly more expensive than I wanted it to be but better than an on-line deal. A free upgrade was an added bonus. A beautiful spacious clean room with a magnificently large bed that was comfortable and had plenty of room for my boyfriend and I. This was a special weekend for us as we had lots of catching up to do and the hotel made it so in every possible way.....smile. Any niggles were minor-wrong room on check in-and addressed immediately without any fuss. Provided information on train travel times to Portsmouth and locally Catholic churches with expedience efficiency and a smile. The food was ABSOLUTELY OUT OF THIS WORLD and really should be experienced-to stay at the hotel without an evening meal would be an absolute sin. We -sadly - ate out in a local restaurant on the second evening and the quality and service pale into insignifigance in comparison! Breakfasts were an equal delight with an array of fresh produce, good wholesome English breakfasts and pleasant surroundings. Downsides ? Avoid room 31 - seems to have been left off the refurb programme! Wish the weather had been warmer so that we could use the pool. Beautifully appointed refurbed rooms but televisions need updating and improved reception; time to install large flat screens please! Power shower would be good too....... A WONDERFUL STAY. Pleasant friendly professional staff. Very clean rooms. Excellent bar lounge area. Superb restaurant. For once I was pleased that I had gone on a football jaunt.....didn't see the match but happily holed up in the hotel relaxing instead. Walking off the gained pounds and finding life in town bearable as a consequence of the break and planning my next sojourn to Bournemouth. Would we go back? You bet !!!!!!
