Marshall Meadows Country House Hotel - Berwick-Upon-Tweed, United Kingdom 

After reading some of the reviews on this site we were a little wary about what we would find - I have to say however that I'm not sure that some of the people who have written on here even stayed in the same hotel. Arriving on Friday for a weekend break we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist who was extremely attentive. Our room was admittedly a little dated but it was immaculately clean and a good size and we had a nice view of the grounds. Food, drink and service were excellent throughout our stay and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. I agree that some of the staff were on the young side but who hasn't been young once! We certainly did not suffer lack of sleep and there was no traffic noise what so ever. A peaceful, picturesque haven that we will definately be visiting again.

We have just returned from a wonderfull weekend at this hotel This is the third of us staying at this hotel and we have stayed at some of the more supposed upmarket hotels. The staff could not do any more to make us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived which was quite late on Friday and we got into dinner which was of top quality and definately 5 star. The waiters were very attentive and very knowledgeable about their duties. We were booked into a four poster room which was brilliant although a small point is that it could do with some upgrading, saying that, it was immaculately clean. We went to the bar where the barman was very chatty and saw that we wanted for nothing and he was very interested to make sure that we had a very good stay in the area giving us a list of places to go in the area. The last evening on Sunday found that we were the only couple staying at this hotel and when we got back it was like you had moved into a most exclusive hotel which involved you having conversations with the staff and even designing your own dinner menu Once again this is a hotel we will be definately staying in again
