I stayed at this hotel with my husband and 3 year old son for 2 nights 14 & 15 july, it is the best hotel that i have been in in blackpool.
The interior is very smart and spacious we stayed in a superior family room and my son loved his bedroom ideal for children with the tv /dvd and snakes and ladders on the wall, lovely.
The reception staff were very professional and helpful along with all the other staff, the bar was very comfortable and the decor lovely..I didn't eat in the restaurant at night too busy with blackpool's attractions but the breakfast catered for everyone and we enjoyed it as i prefer self service especially with a fussy 3 year old.
I would definately return to this hotel next time we go to blackpool.

I visited the Big Blue in july 2008 with my 3 children.
The purpose of our visit was two fold, firstly to experience the delights (?) of the Pleasure Beach, and secondly as an overnight stay before going on to the Open at Royal Birkdale.
We arrived at 12, no rooms ready, however we were able to use the hotel car park - 7 1/2 hours later (after many rides) my daughter still hadn't won one of the cuddly toys at the Pleasure Beach (with the tears of a dissapointed 8 year old), so on arriving at the hotel to check in I purchased a 'big blue teddy'.
The room was lovely - clean, well appointed (great for children), we visited the bar so Dad could have a (well earned!) drink and when we saw the menu, decided that 'fish and chips' would be forsaken for the Blues Cafe. The children's meal was great and very good value, Dad's meal was good as well. Breakfast was easy and plentiful- (whoever invented 'self service' had children!). Throughout the staff were attentive and helpful.
Upon arriving back home my daughter discovered that the teddy 's stitching had come out, so I sent it back to the Manager and asked fo a refund - 2 days later a parcel arrived- a refund of the purchase price, the postage and a teddy for my daughter.
NOW THAT IS SERVICE.
We will always stay at the Big Blue.
