Have just returened from long weekend in aldeburgh. Having picked our hotel off the internet we phoned directly to book and got a freindly receptionist who discussed room types and things to do locally. On arrival we were given a pleasant room ( could do with some updating) and a warm welcome.
The restaurant is a lovely setting for dinner and we had good food, good service and freindly staff.
The overall impression is of a freindly hotel where staff caouldn't do enough for you without being too "in your face" It was just what you expect from a seaside hotel in britain.
A little bit dated, very charming, lots of character and very freindly!

We stayed here last night and were a little disappointed to say the least.
For a ?160 we were expecting a lot more than the tired, run-down decor of our corner room (which had 2 different sea views), with chipped paint and a bed where some of the springs poked up. The bathroom was as clean as it could be given there was some black growth/stains in the tiling grouting and the bathroom window let in more than a few rain drops from the Bank Holiday storm despite someone having tried to jam it shut with the inside of a toilet roll!
We hadn't been told that a wedding party was taking over most of the hotel which meant that the bar, restaurant etc. were out of bounds. Thinking we'd watch the big TV in the room instead, found there wasn't a remote control and no phone to ring the reception for one.
The staff were friendly enough but this wasn't enough to redeem the place I'm afraid. We stayed near Eye at half the price the previous evening and it was at least twice as nice.
