Hotel Chateau Tilques address: 12 Rue Du Château, Saint-Omer, 62500

Hotel Chateau Tilques details: Hôtel Château Tilques offers the true charm and romance of rural France. The hotel was built in 1891 on the ruins of a 17th century Manor House and is located only 3 miles from Saint Omer.

The Hotel boasts 29 château-style rooms and 24 modern-style rooms, all with balcony or terrace overlooking the lake or gardens, located in the Pavillon du Parc. The Château is set in the heart of the Audomarois region, a protected natural park which surrounds the small village of Tilques. The hotel is just thirty minutes drive from the Channel Tunnel and Ferry Ports and is ideally located for a few days in France. However, Château Tilques is not simply a romantic retreat, the hotel has facilities for all styles of occasions, be it a gastronomic dinner in its elegant restaurant set in the original 17th century coachouse, a banquet for one hundred and fifty, a company conference or a press launch. Elegantly appointed bedrooms, salons and private rooms provide the perfect balance between the new and the old.

Stayed in the Pavilion - have had better rooms at Travelodge. Poor bathroom; very cold; tasteless decor in bedroom. Why do they have that spare bed in the room? A kingsize would have been a better idea rather than the outdated queen PLUS a single!! Would also have expected a choice of english speaking TV rather than just BBC2 and CBeebies. No sound system: no aircon: paper cups and powdered creamer. No minibar. Few/poor toiletries. Hotel and restaurant had the atmosphere of the moon! Decent dinner on first night but surprised that the limited menu did not change, at all, for our second night. Obviously people must only stay there for one day. Breakfast OK on first morning but seemed to have been prepared and laid by the local Boy Scouts on the second. Overall, very disappointing - would have dinner there again but would stay elsewhere and get a taxi to the restaurant. Very expensive rooms. Clearly capturing a niche market of French trippers looking for a "chateau" on their last night.
