Having spent two nights at the park hotel what can i say, firstly i recieved a very friendly welcome, the room was very comfortable and clean. I thought i'd try the resturant for dinner but was abit worried after reading the reviews, but was pleasantly surprized, the food was excellent and the overall service was fantastic, i will definitly be staying again when i am back in the area. I have also recommended to a couple of collagues, who have since stayed, and had the same pleasent experience has i did, overall a lovely place to stay and would highly recommended it.

I stayed here for two nights on business. I had originally tried to book the holiday inn in Preston but this was fully booked so i went with the only other free hotel i could find. THE HOTEL IS 45MINS WALK FROM PRESTON TOWN CENTRE WHICH TAKES YOU THROUGH A VERY BAD AREA OF HOUSES WITH CCTV FIXED ON THEIR WALLS, BOARDED UP WINDOWS AND GANGS ON CORNERS. I asked a policeman in the train station for directions and he advised me as a single woman not to walk there by myself in the dark. The hotel itself is not bad, just the streets surrounding it. Reading the other reviews, i was looking forward to staying, but it was like staying in a completely different hotel! To be fair, it wasn't the worst hotel i have stayed in and there were good points, but other reviewers on here can't have stayed in many other places to compare it to. This hotel seems more of a place where contractors/builders etc would stay while they work away from home. The rooms were ok but in need of modernisation. the carpet was dirty, the shower curtain covered in mould and the furniture old. On the plus side, the bedding was clean and the room was warm. The food however, although not terrible, is a far cry from the stunning culinary delights mentioned in previous reviews. I had a soup which was lovely, followed by steak and mashed potato. The potato was instant mash. i had ordered a sticky toffee pudding for dessert which i waited 20 minutes for. When it was delivered to my table, i was told i had been forgotton about - there were only 5 other people dining! when another diner ordered soup, he was told they had run out of soup spoons and would a dessert spoon be ok (again, bear in mind there was only 6 diners in total in the whole restaurant!). Breakfast was nice, although milk and fresh orange jugs on a buffet table were never replaced once empty. HOWEVER, BEWARE. THE HOTEL ONLY SERVES EVENING MEALS MONDAY - THURSDAY. FRIDAY SATURDAYS AND SUNDAY, YOU HAVE TO EAT SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!! I was not informed this at the time of booking and would not have stayed here otherwise. After a full days work, and 45 minute walk back to the hotel, i arrived back at the hotel to find the lobby and reception in darkness. No staff man the reception at weekends and you have to ring the main house for assistance. There was no sign up to say the resaurant was closed and no one to ask - i had to read through the hotel's info book in my room to find that out. So, on a winters dark night, i wandered the streets, very upset, (remember this hotel is in nowhere near the centre of preston) looking for a takeaway. i ended up finding a chip shop and taking it back to my room BREAKFAST IS ONLY SERVED 9AM - 10AM ON A SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. this hotel is okay but so far out of preston, in a bad area, with no food served on weekends and nowhere near to eat, no staff on reception when they want a night to themselves - i wouldnt stay here again.
