Trianon Palace & Spa, a Westin Hotel - Versailles, France 

After staying in hostels, this hotel was a breath of fresh air. The reception staff was very open and friendly. The hotel itself is beautiful, located right next to the park. The rooms are very spacious and well decorated, not to mention very clean. The location was great, being very close to La Chateau. The train station is about a 10 minute walk away from the hotel. We didn't get to explore much of the hotel's amenities since our stay was very brief, but they seemed like something we would have enjoyed.

We stayed for 2 nights in Mid May on Starwood points and were very dissappointed in our stay. As we had booked tbe 2 night stay in January, specifically for the spa offerings, I was concerned when the spa reopening kept being pushed back. The staff was not helpful when we called in the months from January-May. When it finally became clear in May that the spa would not be open it was too late to extend our stay in Paris. Similar to another trip advisor reviewer, the management was not helpful, refused any sort of compensation other than putting us in the main building (after intervention by Starwood), and was unapologetic that the spa opening had been delayed by months, stating that they "don't guarantee all amenities will be available." Hardly a winning argument when "Spa" is in the name of the location!. The 2 days we were there there were about 30 landscapers working on the property which caused a great deal of dust and made the grounds unattractive. With the exception of the bellboys who were lovely, the staff in general seemed indifferent and unhelpful---I was given the wrong information about laundry service, had to call 4 times to fix a toilet (which never did work properly even after being "repaired"). There was a problem with our cab to the airport arranged by the concierge--it was late and the cost was approximately $50 more than we were told--a very big difference. All in all, NOT worth the cost (whether money or points). The staff could stand a lesson in decent customer service.
