For about $150 a night, I stayed for three nights at the Henri IV. I was visiting family and knew I would spend little time in the room so I got the least expensive room they had, which overlooked their very manicured entrance and parking area. The room was well appointed with a nice modern bathroom that gave you plenty space. Unlike some of the other reviews, I thought the staff was polite and willing to please. Paris is a very expensive town, especially with our dollar value so I thought this was a very good deal. St Germain en Laye, is a beautiful town and the views over paris are exceptional. If you are going as a tourist or a romantic getaway, splurge for the rooms overlooking Paris as they are quite spectacular. The hotel also has a well known restaurant that overlooks paris as well. The food, views and service and top notch and it would be a shame to stay here and not to eat there. Do check the internet rates on this hotel though, found it for 25 euros less an night and then got the hotel to match it.

This hotel doesn't want internet bookings, that became very clear to us. We reserved a room, even got it confirmed, but when we arrived, there was no room. They had a lame excuse of a guest becoming ill. When we showed the manager that we needed to be at a wedding within an hour, he started shouting at us. He even told us it was because we didn't understand French that we didn't get the reason for not having a room. My French is fluent and my accent is a lot less that this managers dreadful slang! We ended up in a hotel that was a lot less appealing (3 instead of 4 start) and that was more expensive. But don't even think that the Henri IV compensated for this! At the wedding, which we made just in time, we told the mayor of the town about our experience. Turns out we were not the first this happened to. So, if you want to stay in St Germain en Laye, please think again before you choose the Pavillon Henri IV. You could end up as a clochard under a bridge!
