Close to Lake Geneva and in the very heart of the huge Alpine ski area of Les Portes du Soleil, Avoriaz and the surrounding area offer a wide variety of places to discover : from the shores of the lake to Mont Blanc, from the goat village of Les Lindarets to the medieval town of Yvoire or the Pont du Diable gorges, Lake Montriond, the slate quarries of Morzine, Evian, Thonon. To sample the charms of the beautiful Le Chablais region and make the most of your stay, there are many sites worth visiting : forest trails, high mountain pasture farms, waterfalls and breathtaking cliffs.
- Heritage and Tradition:
The Lappiaz slate mine, the Cistercian abbey of Saint-Jean-d’Aulps, the shores of Lake Geneva, the châteaux-museums, the “Jardin Alpin Gentianes” (edelweiss and other buttercup varieties are to be found in this garden brimming with Alpine flowers in enchanting surroundings – located in the centre of the resort, a marked trail guides you through), farm visit (a few hundred metres down from the resort, towards Morzine, you can discover how our mountain cheeses are made at Séraussaix farm).
