We recently returned from a six day stay at the Westin Hotel in Leipzig, Germany. It was a great experience. Having read some of the conflicting reviews, I was a bit concerned that the hotel would not be very nice. However, we were very surprised to see that this time the hotel pictures do reflect an accurate picture of the amenities. The rooms have all been updated with beautiful marble baths with large soaking tubs. The lobby, bar and meeting rooms were exceptional and the indoor swimming pool was an added bonus. The hotel is within walking distance of the historic center city, and we walked everywhere. There is also a beautiful park nearby, and the front desk has maps for walkers/runners. Since we were part of a choir tour, we had a number of meals at the hotel. The food was great, especially the huge buffet breakfast, which had everything imaginable that you could want for breakfast. Both the quality and quantity of the meals were wonderful. Hotel staff were most accommodating and spoke very good English. I would highly recommend the Westin and the City of Leipzig for a wonderful European vacation.

The Westin Leipzig is a shiny-new-looking hotel. It's not at all 'hip', and obviously caters to business conference travellers. The rooms were clean, fresh and had all the amenities one would expect from a higher-end chain hotel.
Very nice views out over the city.
Location is central, but there are several large hotels in Leipzig closer to the train station.
Notable is that the Westin is the only hotel in Leipzig to have a swimming pool. It's not the most amazing pool ever, and the decor (blonde wood slats in a 70-s style modernist design) is an odd choice, but it's clean, and it's nice to be able to go for a swim in the morning.
The lobby is designed to be stylishly impressive. Restaurant and bar are on balconies over the lobby - businessmen singing karaoke at the piano bar were good for a laugh on our way back to our room.
