The Westin Dragonara was a lovely oasis in the scorching heat of Malta, a beautiful country in and of itself with lots of historic monuments and scenery to offer history buffs and families. We stayed in a junior suite under a 4-day, 3 night Babymoon package with our twoyear old (second child due in Sep) for our last trip abroad. Malta was the perfect quick getaway from London via direct flights; the hotel was luxurious yet reaonably priced and family friendly. The lobby was stunning as were the views of the Mediterranean from our two balconies. The room itself was spacious, probably 400 to 500 sq feet. The concierge did a fabulous job helping us book a babysitter for one night out and making reservations for us at de Mondien, the only Relaix and Chateaux restaurant in Malta, in the beautiful walled city of Mdina. The only drawback to the hotel was the inconsistent quality of the food; buffet breakfasts and room service were great but lunch and other meals were subpart. Overall, we'd recommend this as an easy, not too expensive and very fun short weekend break for young families looking to escape the hustle of London and the UK.

If you don't have children and are looking for a nice hotel to stay; don't go! From the early morning on, we thought the air-alarm was going off,for all the screaming of the children. At any time the least diaperpoopers we saw were about 20. The whole poolarea was infested with screaming and crying children. The whole hotel is focused towards parents and children; other couples are totally forgotten about. In the evening the bar is empty and the quadro restaurant is very often rented out to third parties. Not to mention that the bar on the beach is closed when it should be openened! This all demoting the hotel to a three star hotel! Caught between the 5 years olds inside and the 17 years old outside the wall, the whole hotel starts to feels like a prison. The whole island is not up to speed with the rest of Europe, feels like a cheap carnaval, and there is almost nothing to do for peoples in their thirties. The only good place was a restaurant called Al Mollo. So,if you are thirty plus and have some money to spent; stay away!
