Cannaregio:Crumbling, piquant Cannaregio is the most trendy area of the city, where you can begin to feel what everyday life is like, more than anywhere in Venice. Cannaregio was Tintoretto’s home and he is buried in the beautiful Venetian Gothic Madonna dell’Orto, which also contains several of his masterpieces.
Madonna Dell’Orto:
A church that most of Venice's tourists never see. Tintoretto’s Church has a noble brick façade and a graceful interior but it is his paintings that draw most visitors out to this northern reach of the city.
Ca’ d’Oro:
The Ca' d'Oro is perhaps the most famous Venetian palazzo of all, after the Doges' Palace. The name is due to the gilt and polychrome external decorations which once adorned its walls. Built between 1428 and 1430 for the Contarini Family, who provided Venice with 8 Doges, the residence is now open to the public as a gallery.

I cant praise this place enough.This is a historic building and even if you aren't privelaged enough to stay in the triple height, fresco ceilinged, grand canal viewed rooms you can still enjoy the splendour of this ancient jewel during breakfast or even just while checking in, the whole building oozes history, art and romance. Expensive but a a real treat. Only 10mins from SanMarco and boat stop right outside. Defintely visit the market on the opposite side of the canal and the gorgeous low key italian eaterie called Vini da Gigio nearby, best italian I've ever had.
