OK if you don't mind noise and you smoke...Posted: Mon, Oct 15 2007Location:

2We booked the hotel for 4 nights after we learned the Rugby World Cup was being played in Paris and some fashion show was in town, so many of the hotels we tried had no rooms. I actually used the reviews I read here on Trip Advisor and decided the room would work for me and my wife. Sometimes, I guess, what is good for one is not good for another.
I can tell you that the staff was very nice and friendly and helpful. They helped us secure a reservation for dinner, and helped with traveling on the metro and train. They also let me switch rooms the moment we arrived.
The first room we got smelled so badly of smoke that I was sneezing five minutes after I got into it. My wife, five months pregnant, wasn't doing much better. They allowed me to switch to the only room they had left, which was right next door. At least it didn't smell quite as much, but wasn't tremendously better. We had two windows because it was a corner room. The problem was we were on the first floor. Right on the road and right on the corner. I used the ear plugs we received on our plane for all four nights because the noise from the street was so loud.
The room was fairly clean and the bathroom was clean. Not a huge room, but in Paris, you can't expect rooms like in the U.S.
The bed was ok. They have wi-fi and also a computer in the lobby that you can use for 3 euro. Pretty convenient for checking emails.
I asked and of the 7 rooms on each floor, 2 of them face the inside of the building. If I were staying again, I would ask for one of those. But, again, you must be able to deal with the smoking because they don't have any non smoking rooms or floors. Perhaps to some, this isn't an issue, but for me and my wife, it really made the four nights we stayed not very pleasant. We didn't let it ruin our trip though.
This hotel isn't horrible and I don't want to give that impression, but you must be willing to deal with the noise and the smoke. If those aren't issues for you, then this hotel will probably work as it's very close to the Bastile Metro.
Hope this helps others!
