Sheraton Bal Harbour Beach Hotel - Bal Harbour, USA 

I stayed at the Sheraton in early October with two girlfriends (a girls weekend away from the hubbies) . The lobby is luxurious and tasteful. The pool area is amazing, with a winding pool, lush landscaping, waterfalls etc. The beach is right off the property for very easy access. There was always immediate service at the pool for drinks, food, all of which tasted very good. But the room! - eek. The carpet was old and ragged; a pillow and bedsham were very obviously stained and placed back on the bed with no concern about it (blech); the windows were so dirty it was embarassing. But the bathroom, which obviously had been recently redone, was huge and covered in marble. This property is worth it for the pool and beach. But if you're picky about the room, you'll have to look elsewhere.

350 plus tax (near 400) a night for a room with 2 beds. I was expecting so much because this resort is in Bal Harbour and on the beach. Also, the website makes it look so upscale. When we got to the room (#955) we were disgusted. It was filthy. The bathroom had grime all over it and hairs on the tiles above the tub. This was not dirt that was from one prior guest either. The bathroom had not had a good cleaning in months, I’m sure. The toilet has so many stains and hairs and dust and grime. This is inexcusable and something you’d expect in a fleabag motel, not an upscale resort. The rugs and walls were disgracefully dirty. Stains everywhere and smelling of mold. When I looked out the window and saw the view of the street in front, I felt heartsick. I had been looking forward to this vacation and watching the website for months, and now here we were in filth with a horrible view—and at almost 400 dollars per night! Heartsick and ashamed is how I felt and then I decided not to be a victim. My friend and I went down to complain and fortunately the staff (who are nice) upgraded the room to the other side of the hotel (the north side). That room was clean. Although the rug was somewhat shabby with a few stains. The coffee creamers were spoiled, but that’s minor. It was pleasurable to be in this room. (Although they charged us 50 more per night!) I noticed that on my bill and complained. They took it right off, thankfully. The pool is beautiful, the grounds are well cared for and pretty. The beach is clean and pathways are clean and beautiful too. The staff is adequately pleasant, not overly friendly. They’re kind of distant and removed. The gym was immaculate and convenient. Some other reviewer said they charge for the gym, but I don’t believe I saw any charge for the gym. I hope not. We had a nice time, but I don’t feel that the money was worth it. It was very expensive with not a good return on the investment.
