Miramare Wonderland Hotel - Ixia, Greece     

We have just returned from a week at The Miramare Wonderland Hotel on a B & B basis. We were had booked a seafront suite but were upgraded to a waterfront suite on our arrival, which was a nice surprise. It is a lovely hotel (more our equivalent 4 * rather than 5 * we thought) spread over a large area of the seafront so there is lots of walking, if you room is a long way from reception and the only entrance. The room service was excellent with clean towels for the room and pool everyday. The service and food in Gullivers restaurant by the pool was very good. we didn't eat in the main restaurant in the evening although a very nice buffet breakfast was served there each morning. The hotel is on the Aegean sea so you get a breeze all the time, which was fantastic in the heat. It is wonderful sitting on the sun beds in the evening watching the waves crashing in. If you want sand and a calm sea (and not such a breeze- much hotter) it would be better to say on the other side of the island. The Miramare is very close to a busy road which wasn't a problem to us as we were near the beach, but not sure if it would be noisy if you had a room towards the back of the resort. The road is also very difficult to cross in the evening if you want to get to the restaurants, which are all on the other side of the road. However, it is only a 10 minute taxi ride into Rhodes town and if you go to the old town it is lovely- lots of shops and restaurants - very busy and quite expensive at the time of writing. All in all, we would recommend the Miramare if you like all amenities on your doorstep - it is quite a touristy area and not in a sleepy Greek fishing village if that is what you prefer!

We had a great time at this hotel. Excellent pool and gardens with plenty of space so that you never feel crowded. The beach was so so but you can't have everything for the price which we thought was excellent. We can recommend this as a great family hotel and would certainly go again.
