Very nice compared to Mercure hotel in Bercy. VERY centrally located right beside the train station and convenient walk to Bastille and Republique. Excellent staff & service, clean room and big bed for Paris. Quite safe as well. The breakfast was awful - avoid it at all cost indeed. Apart from that, no complaints.

Where should I start.... The hotel is nothing like what it looks like in online pictures. The common areas are very nice, but how much time are you actually able to spend in those areas. The hotel rooms are really outdated and decorated in orange and green. As an interior design student I couldn't handle it, but my friend is not an interior design student and she hated it just as much. There were tiles missing from the wall in the bathroom and the tub was so deep that you almost fell into everytime you wanted to use it. It just wasn't a good experience. On the first day that we were there a fire drill occured and the hotel employees did nothing to help the hote guests. We were told by one employee that it was okay and normal and we were to go back to what we were doing. Then a woman employee told us fire alarm take the stairs. Nothing was organized and they didn't seem to care about our safety. It was not a good impression. We also had a triple room but it only came with two bath towels. No matter what we did we could not get an extra towel. We also had a problem with privacy, hotel employess would knock on the door and then let themselves in for no reason. It was actually really scary to think an employee could just come in your room. We were also locked out of our room because our door lock ran out of charge. It took three keys, our tour guide, and a hotel techican 45 minutes to fix it. It was crazy and unneccessary. The only two things that I really enjoyed were the breakfast and the location. The breakfast was very filling with a good variety and the hotel is located right next door to a train station which also has access to the metro!!

Good points - Front desk staff was very helpful in helping me make reservations for our group, sheets crisp and very clean, breakfast room updated, and breakfast staff and food plentiful and good. Bad points - TINY rooms, carpet so matted that you wore shoes, no furniture to even place a suitcase, ONE bath towel unless you called for more, clerk refusing to secure me a line for a collect call when I had a credit card emergency unless I walked downstairs and left 40E deposit. Not in a good location - essential sights were too far to walk. Would NEVER consider staying here again... hotel offers ZERO ambiance or joy whatsoever. Not even a Motel 6 by US standards.
