This small hotel is far from perfect, but given its low price I gave it a 4 out of 5.
The good parts: My twin room was tiny, but then what could you expect from a budget hotel? Although it is small, the room is fully functional. The beds are quite comfortable. There was a little table with a kettle and tea bags. The bathroom I got had a proper bath, not just a shower. Although the bath was not big, the size was ok to move around (some reviewers below might have got a different type of bathroom?) The water was not very hot, but warm enough to have a comfortable shower. The TV was good too.
The bad parts: My only real complaint about the hotel was the noise. I was on the 4th floor and I could still hear the traffic (I had the windows shut too). There was almost no sound proof inside the hotel. The door noise and other guests' noise were very loud.
Many reviewers here praised the location of the hotel. While it is close to the Eiffel Tower, it is far from everything else. You almost always have to take the metro to go anywhere and back. Another problem is that the closest metro is Dupliex - it is on Line 6 which does not go to central Paris unless you change to a different line somewhere. Fortunately Dupliex station is only a few minutes walk.
Next time I probably stay somewhere more central such as the 9th district. It is the area where there are a lot of restaurants and bars. Then I don't need to worry about getting back to the hotel before the last metro. I would recommend this hotel though if you are on a budget, just for a short stay and don't mind taking the metro everyday. It probably suits young flexible travellers.

I stayed at the Campanile in Dec 07. I got a triple room, but it was the tiniest room I have ever been in, maybe 250 sq ft. The double bed was in the main room, and was quite comfortable. The single bed was located literally in front of the bathroom, tucked in front of the window, part of the bed was also in front of a wall that slanted inward due to the Parisian architecture, so you had to be careful when you got up and not bump your head. The bathroom was not small, but the shower was ridiculous - you can not turn around in the shower without touching the wall or the shower curtain. Worst of all, by 10:30 each night, the hotel would run out of hot water. Morning showers were usually hot. The room was clean, and the bed, linens and pillows were comfortable.
I was on the 7th floor, so the noise was not that bad. But the hotel did not have A/C, so I can't imagine what it would be like in the summer when you have to open the windows.
The best part about the hotel is the location. It is very convenient. It's about a 10 minute walk to the RER Champ de Mars station, 15 to Dupleix, and 20 minutes to Motte Picquette. So within walking distance, there's about 5 lines, which takes you about everywhere in Paris. Also, nearby is Blvd. Grenelle and Suffern, which has many shops, bakeries, banks, and supermarkets.
I have traveled abroad extensively, and this is by far not the worst hotel I have stayed in. Paris is expensive, and most descent hotels in the same neighborhood are 250 euros. Campanile is a bargain, I got my room for 97 euros - but you get what you pay for. So if you are looking for a cheap hotel in a convenient location, and can sleep like the dead, take showers in the morning, and don't mind tiny rooms, this is a good hotel.
