Hotel Rive Gauche - Paris, France     

stanze minuscole al punto da non poter disfare le valige, bagno nuovo ma di difficile praticabilità(l'anta della doccia si apriva per un terzo in quanto sbatteva sul bidet), ascensore con spazio o per valigia o per cristiano, personale gentile ma poco attento, errori nella fattura (copla del computer, ovvamente)

My husband and I wanted a good value, but simple 2* Hotel in the 6th Arondissement of Paris for 2 nights for our weekend in Paris. Having spent a lot of time in Paris, and wanting to stay near friends in St Germain, I had a look online and chose the Hotel Rive Gauche for it's good location and reasonable room price. Having seen photos on websites of this hotel I thought it looked clean but basic, and worth the 100€ price paid for a double room. How wrong I was! On arrival at the Hotel, I was shocked to see the room looked nothing like the photos I had seen online. They really must have used good lighting and clever photography! The room was small and stuffy, had an uneven sloping floor, looked like it could do with extreme updating, re-decoration and general cleaning. I did not want to walk on the floor in the room or bathroom without shoes. Light fittings were often surrounded by burnt patches hinting at over-heating, electrics looked in need of re-wiring, walls were crumbling, bathrooms were old and cracked and in need of ripping out and replacing. If you have large luggage you will not fit in the lift with it, as the lift is extremely small and claustrophobic. We were forced to stay for 1 night as the hotel would not give us back our money, but we checked out a day early and found a much better hotel at Chatelet for a similar price. I would certainly not recommend this hotel to anyone, and suggest that websites stop featuring the photos that do not reflect the accomodation. This is certainly not a 2* standard hotel!
