Ideal Hotel - Paris, France     

We booked this hotel for the days between Christmas and New Year's Eve based on the two positive reviews on Tripadvisor. Lesson learnt: Don't trust just two reviews. THE GOOD: - Convenient location very close to the Metro station in the very South of Paris; easy access via train/Metro to major sights and CDG airport - Not too pricey; "standard" prices are quoted at €80/night, but the cheapest offer we found online for between the years was €120/night (WITHOUT BREAKFAST - that cost €7/person extra), so call the hotel before booking online - You have 12 TV channels, of which 1 British, 1 German, 1 Russian - Lots of sockets in room and bathroom, which is good if you bring your own blow dryer, which we highly recommend (the one installed is not that great) THE BAD: - Located next to major street; windows are ok, but not soundproof, so you hear the traffic - No hot water was available when we tried to take a shower at 8:30am; there seems to be hot water at off-peak times (7, 10am) though - We had horrendous "neighbors" (2 doors down) who partied and screamed all Friday night with 10 people in the room so we couldn't get any sleep. We complained to management in the night, but they didn't seem to be doing anything about it - the noise went on until 5am!! - The doors and walls are not at all soundproofed, so you would hear your neighbors even if they were rather quiet... - While everything seemed rather clean, the towels were rather unorganised when we first entered the room, looking like someone had already used them; we requested new ones OVERALL - The key said "Ideal **", and it did feel like a 2-star hotel at the very most. How they ever got 3 stars is unexplainable to me. I know it's difficult to find a nice affordable place in Paris, but stay somewhere else!

We stayed for 3 nights at this hotel. The hotel is ideally located just a few steps away from Metro and Bus terminus. Hotel staff were very friendly, though they speak very little English. breakfast is basic + Just a few steps to Metro and Bus terminus + Restaurants, shopping areas nearby + Larger comfortable rooms compared to other hotels in Paris - Not located very close to the city centre.
