Hotel Choiseul Opera - Paris, France     

Hotel Choiseul Opera is located in a safe and clean area. One can be assured that the shopping in that whole area is sufficient, especially with the Lafayette Galaries shoppping centre. So huge, so many things to see and buy. The decor of the rooms are somewhat old and outdated. The bathroom seems of age as well. However, the rooms and bathroom are clean. Overall, one can expect a decent stay at this hotel. Not the most luxurious definitely. But good enough for a rest after a long day of sight-seeing.

The hotel is very conveniently located near the Opera, Galleries Lafayette, Printemps, as well as the Roissybus for CDG airport and the metro station. (There are free maps and shopping discount vouchers in a rack near the reception - worth picking up.) There are also plenty of cafes nearby. Internet booking on the hotel's own website (multi-lingual, including English) was very easy. I booked a single room but was given a double, which was a nice bonus. The room was very clean and of about the average size. It had a functional desk with drawers, and a wardrobe that was large enough. The bed was comfortable (not too hard and not too soft). There was nothing particularly special about the decor, but it was not horrible either. The bathroom was long and thin but was not too small. It had a bath and a shower attachment . As there was no shower curtain, and the shower was not attached to the wall (it was attached to the faucet to the bath), it was not suitable for having a shower standing up. The water pressure for the shower also left a bit to be desired. I am not sure if all the bathrooms were this way. Wireless internet access was included in the room rate, although the signal was rather weak in the room I had on the top floor and so I had difficulties connecting at times. But then again, I did not go to Paris to spend time on the Internet, so I did not really mind it so much. The staff were helpful despite my nearly non-existent French. Overall, I liked this hotel, although it is a bit basic in terms of decor and facilities.
