Ambassade Hotel - Paris, France     

L'hotel Ambassade is a great place to stay in Paris on a budget. It's location is superb- near both l'Arch de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower (both within easy walking distance, esp. the L'arch) and there is easy access to all kinds of tranportation like the metro, major bus lines and Paris Open Tour- the hop on hop off bus. The neighborhood is safe and there are a lot of embassies in the area. The rooms are small- very small, but clean and well kept. The staff was very accomodating and friendly. We didn't try the breakfast- it was 14.00 Euro, but there are several places to buy breakfast nearby on the rue de lauriston(bakeries and a Fan Prix market). We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We stayed here for 4 nights and overall we had a pleasant time. The room is small and bathroom smaller but when on a city break we were out and about most of the time anyway. We stayed on the ground floor room which was right by the street so we had some noise from traffic but it was ok with the window shutters down. The room had a tv and there was a hairdryer and products in the bathroom. The room was immaculately clean which was great. We didn't try breakfast, preferring to grab something from the many boulangeries in the neighbourhood. There are a few nice restaurants along the road, we tried Conti and Victor's, which both served delicious food. It is about a 5-10 min walk to the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe, where there are larger restaurant/cafes you can eat and drink and people watch. Metro stations such as Victor Hugo and Boisserie are again only a 5-10 min walk away so getting around Paris and to CDG Airport is no problem. The staff at the hotel were not overly friendly which was a bit disappointing. They spoke basic English and so with our basic French we got by. Would stay again if on the same budget.
