The room was great, fluffy pillows and comforter and very nice bathroom. The location could not have been better. Just steps away (1 block) from the Louvre and the River Seine. Very central to all other sights, with in walking distance.

I stayed in room no. 407, one of the newly renovated rooms. When I came in I was recommended to give some helps and critics which can help to avoid mistakes before starting general renovations in autumn this year. 1) The new room design is very good and improves much the hotel ambience, but 2) some changes should be thought of: 2.1) The room should have a waste-basket as well. It can be small enough to be placed under the desks. 2.2) The room should be equipped with a small refrigerator, which can also be placed under the desk, when a smaller sitting-item will be chosen: E.g. just a sitting-cube instead of the large cuboid which is used now. 2.3) The sink of hand-wash-basin in the bathroom is too flat, the basin should be deeper. The design of this arrangement might be modern and fine-looking, but from the functional point of view this basin is rather useless if your hands are a little bit bigger than average. Even if you have small hands it won't make pleasure to use the equipment because the water-tap doesn't reach far enough inti the basin. 2.4) You should think about installing an extra-sink into the floor as well, because otherwise guests will certainly sometimes be faced by flooding. 2.5) It is very convenient to have adjusted different TV-channels as well for people from abroad. But you should care for installing major ones. E.g. the German program is not convenient enough: Two channels were offered, one was just a regional TV-channel which doesn't interest the majority (perhaps people only from Berlin), the other one was a minor private channel. At least one of the two existing news-channels should be offered (Either "n.tv" or "n24" and, if space, besides one or two major channels, e.g. Germany's "ARD" and "ZDF". 3) The breakfast should be improved and upgraded to European Standard: Some more different types of sausages, enough dishes, e.g. also for boiled eggs, perhaps chose of different types of eggs, e.g. fried and scrambled eggs. Last time I stayed in your house (August 2006) the breakfast-buffet was offered from the room in front of the coffee-room which offered more space, was more appropriate and helpful for your staff. Now they were not able to come by with dishes and other requirements because they had to run too much. 4) By the way: Last year your hotel was mentioned at [--] This time I couldn't find you any more. You should change this again. Many people today use such Internet-agencies to search their hotels. I just didn't this time because I knew your hotel from earlier stays. Well, I hope you will get some helpful and interesting remarks and infos from the guest's point of view. By the way, the entrance and the landing look great and your hotel is situated fantastically. Your reception-staff was very friendly.

I lodged at Grand Hotel Du Palais royal for 5 nights with my wife in June 2007. We were visiting Paris on the occasion of our 1st wedding anniversary. We checked in late in the evening and were disappointed because we had reserved a superior double room and found that they put us in a standard room (not very fair). I talked with the gentlement doing the night duty and he was kind and accommodating: he told that the hotel was full for that night so he couldnt' switch room for us, but since there were departures the day after the hotel could accommodate us according to our reservation. The morning after we talked again to the reception staff to find that the hotel was still full! As we started being upset about the situation they finally assigned us the superior room we had originally reserved. Upon checking out, no apologies, no compensation (we didn't ask for it but it could be a nice touch by the management...). Beside that, the hotel is pretty basic but clean and comfortable, conveniently located just a couple of minutes by walk from the Louvre, fifteen minutes by walk from the Ile de Paris. Staff is not overly friendly but polite and helpful. We had breakfast in the hotel just once, as you can basically have the same things for less money in any cafè offering a breakfast menu. I would stay here again mainly for the location.

Perfect place to stay in Paris

We recently spent 5 days in this hotel and would definitely recommend it to anyone intending to visit Paris. The location is perfect - right in the centre of town, next to the Louvre, next to the Metro and just around the block from lots of wonderful and typically French cafés. I am a bit of a perfectionist, but was very pleasantly surprised. The rooms are small, as I am told is the case with all Paris hotels anyways. Everything is extremely neat and clean. Rooms are serviced daily. The staff are all very friendly, very helpful and speak fluent English. When traveling in SA we are used to staying in 4* hotels (which is obviously more affordable here than in Paris!), but for a 3* hotel, this one is definitely worth every penny.
