3This hotel was previously a Sofitel.
It is located south of Paris near the heliport and near to the Balard metro station.
Location wise, it is OK. I didnt hear or see any helicopters and Balard station is just a short walk away.
CDG airport is in the north. Expect an expensive fare to get here. Alternatively you can take those shuttle vans eg airport connection which you can book online. These are approx half the price. More about that later.
Check in was alright.
2 of the 5 elevators were being serviced. This is a large hotel. Imagine the crowds, squeezing and shoving. This is the number one let down of the hotel. I hope they can fix the elevators as soon as possible. It was a major source of frustration. I waited almost 25 min for the elevators during "peak" hours.
The rooms were small. But adequate.
Beds and pillows were good and clean.
No ironing board. Limited TV channels.
They provide free Evian mineral water BUT they dont replenish them frequently. The same goes for the toiletries. I didnt bother to demand for them as generally I don't feel the staff here are that friendly except for the front desk.
The hotel restaurant La Brasserie serves excellent food. In fact, much better than both the fancy restaurant and "ordinary" restaurant I tried outside. Waiters were prompt but they need to learn to smile. They looked like they have not been paid for a month.
Overall, OK stay. Location is not a problem.
You can buy a Euro5.80 daily pass at Balard Metro that gives you unlimited travel in most of Paris.
