Wonderful hotel

We had just returned from attending the airshow in Paris and we stayed at this hotel. It may be located at the last stop on the Metro but if you travel by car, the hotel is situated around 10 minutes away from Champs Elysees. The lounge was modernly decorated in shades of white and red. The room size was okay but it did seem a bit small to us as we had a baby cot in our room. We had breakfast (not included in the room charges) at the Le Montgolfier restaurant on the top floor every morning. The breakfast served was quite delicious actually except that the spread was rather limited. Staff were friendly throughout although my only grouse would be that they charged me 3 Euro everytime I requested a pot of hot water to make my baby's milk. Because they did not provide a kettle in the room (or a minibar for that matter) I was a little annoyed at being charged. Overall great hotel and I would stay here again.

Not a good stay this time

I stayed at this hotel four years ago, and it was nice and very convenient (walking distance) to the Paris Exposition center. This time, a completely different story. Aside from my floor undergoing renovations and one morning with no hot water in the shower, there was unusually warm weather in Paris the week I was there, and there was a complete lack of air conditioning in the hotel room (and in the rest of the hotel) for the entire week and the windows of the hotel room DID NOT OPEN. The temperature, humidity and lack of air in the hotel room was extremely uncomfortable (the temperature in the room measured 28 degrees C on average, according to my travel clock/thermometer, every single day) -- I was in Paris for a business exhibition and a series of very important meetings, and found it very difficult to get a good night's sleep on any of the nights I was there. Is this the hotel's fault, you say? No, not the heat, but their fault was in what they told me: The first day I was there (a Sunday), they said that they had technicians working all weekend to fix the problem (a lie), and then when Monday evening rolled around and the problem was not fixed, they said that they would call someone in immediately to work on it (another lie). The truth is that in most hotels in Paris with A/C, they do not turn it on until a certain date in the year, and if there is high heat before that date, too bad. During this stay, they never had any technicians there at all! Of course I wrote to complain later, but they only responded to my single comment about the lack of hot water one morning and completely negleted to address the A/C issue. I wrote back to their initial response and tried to focus them on the real problem, but it is now several weeks later and I have not heard back from them at all. They did give me a discount of one night when I checked out, I should mention, but I did have to push hard for this; if I did not push for this, I would have gotten nothing.

We stayed 3 nights in Nov 06 Negatives Poor conceirge service....didnt help much when needed...i.e flight depatures terminal no etc..... Most hotels dont charge for electric converters....they were charging 10 euros..its only after we complained they let use borrow one free... poor leisure facilties...cant wear swiming shorts..must have trunks....shared with public. (naked people in sauna) Positives Rooms are ok/clean reasonably sized.... bathrooms ok/clean. Nice hotel Pub/Bar..but not many options on resturant menu easy access to central paris balard station 2 min walk away.... aprox 15 mins to eifel tower... fast food available in adjacent complex.... italian, chinese mcdonalds, uppercrust, pizza place... when traveling into paris take the train from airport not bus to opera....train much quicker... as we found on return journey.

Like many others who have stayed at this hotel and written a review, I too booked this hotel through Priceline. When I read some of the reviews, my heart sank. However, after staying at this hotel, I have to stay that my experience was definitely more positive than others. Many of the reviews I read occurred as the hotel was being renovated. I am happy to report that, upon arrival at the hotel and requesting a renovated room, front desk informed me that all room renovations were complete (public area work may still be in progress). The room we received did, indeed, seem completely renovated. The beds were super comfortable and firm and the decor very pleasant. The bathroom was very clean (although the half shower door was not as effective at blocking out water as I had hoped and I could hear some of the pipes from the bathroom). The room itself was moderately sized, had a fridge, and a safe. I also found the staff to be quite friendly. The front desk was able to find us a non-smoking room with twin beds when we requested. Concergie was very well informed and helpful. I only ate at the hotel cafe once. The food was decent, but a bit on the pricey side. In case you are looking for cheaper food options, there is a shopping center right next door with a very small food court consisting of a baguette place, Hippo restaurant, McDonalds, pizza, etc. For general groceries, we asked the concergie, who directed to 2 small stores which were about 10 minutes away on foot. The hotel also has free wifi in the lobby area. The signal and speed were decent. In room high-speed internet is available for a fee. As far as location, I was prepared for the worst so I guess I didn't find it as bad as expected. The nearest metro station is Balard and is located about a block from the hotel. It is the last stop on the metro line, but only about 10-15 minutes from the Eiffel. Based on the experience and the price (100/night plus tax), I was pleased with the stay.

Nice Hotel but Too Far Away

I too ended up staying at this hotel because I got a deal on Priceline. When I looked it up on a map I thought it was in a good location, right by the Seine, close to the Eiffel Tower. But the map was deceiving and the hotel turned out to be pretty far away from anything of interest, other than an indoor waterpark next door. It's true that it's only a couple of blocks away from the Metro but you'll have to take the Metro or a cab if you want to go anywhere. We walked from the Eiffel Tower and it took over an hour. The hotel itself is very nice though. It's a "boutique" style hotel with hip decor and the room, although small, offers some very upscale amenities. The bed was awesome, extremely plush and comfortable and, because we were up on the 21st floor, we had a pretty good view of the city. So if you don't mind taking the Metro everywhere, it's a pretty posh hotel at a reasonable price as far as Paris hotels go.
