2This hotel is going through renovations. We made very early booking from hotels website, and even at the day of our check in day in end of May , there were no information about renovations at hotel?s website.
We arrived Tryp Blanche at 13 (1PM) to check in. There were three of us and two separate bookings. At the reception, staff made a mistake saying first that our rooms are not ready, then she gave to our friend a room which was already in use by another guest. Our friend came back to lobby saying that there are some belongings at room, the room is occupied. For us the receptionist said, "we have made a terrible mistake." My spouse said to me when staff speaked both spanish and french that they are talking about broken room and renovations and hotel is overbooked. Staff said that we could wait at the lobby. After 30min staff came back saying that "hotel is overbooked, do you accept a family room?". We denied that right away, it would have been inconvenient for three adults to share the same room. Then she went back and came later to tell that " you can deside which one of you goes to another hotel and who stays in here". She tried to tell to my spouse that "there is bigger bed in the room" as I didn?t realise that she was actually saying for two of us, that you two stay here, your friend gets a single room from another hotel.
I asked if the room is from the same hotel chain, she replyed "yes" and said "it will be Tryp Francois". And when I asked about room rate she said "it is the same as you have booked here." I desided that we go to that hotel and our friend stays at Tryp Blanche.
As our friend hadn?t travel for a long time, we came every evening to our friends room to drink some wines and to plan next day?s sightseeing together. That?s why I can write a review and my friend confirms this review.
Room was bit outdated and shabby. Toilet sink had holes in it, bathroom needed upgrading, room walls were dirty here and there. However room was very silent, there were a big bed which was kingsize as that is rare in Paris hotels at this room rate. And roomw was bigger than we had in Tryp Francois.
However we liked more about Tryp Francois as our room was smaller but it was much cleaner and more comfortable and with better location which we liked. You may click my username to see my review from another Tryp hotel in Paris.
PROS:
+ Lobby area, hallways were nicer than in Tryp Francois.
+ Althougth we had mixed feelings about reception service, she arranged us free taxi ride to another hotel from the same hotel chain with the same roomrate as we had booked. Good service, thank you!
+ Still reliable hotel chain in overbooking situation, despite our experiences.
+ Close to Mouling Rouge and Picalle.
+ Not too much street noise near hotel.
CONS:
- Renovations going. Guests have to use maitenance lift as main lift was closed.
- Reception gave an occupied room to our friend.
- A staff member could have recommend and said to us more directly and clearly that to stay in this hotel. As for a hotel is always better to accomodate two guets in one room than just one guest. As we always took extras from the hotel: breakfasts, hotel services etc. Our friend didn?t took any extras from Tryp Blanche.
- Our friend?s doubleroom was a bit worn down, however bed and bedlinens seemed to be fine. And our friend had a good night sleep in room.
