Hotel Baby - Paris, France     

For our first trip to Paris, my husband and I chose the Hotel Baby based on its central location and reasonable price (we were quite concerned with the overall costs of our Paris stay and decided to be on the safe side of our budget, choosing to spend 'low' on hotel), and the hotel received average ratings on this and other sites. It was afforable, the location was great...and yes, there are prostitutes on Hotel Baby's cross street. But...the area didn't have an overly seedy or dangerous feeling at all. It's in a garment district with many fabric and clothing wholesalers, the atmosphere is one of commerce/working class. Less than 5 minutes from the metro, a definite plus. It was quite noisy...delivery trucks in the morning. While we never heard noise from the surrounding rooms, we could hear lots of bumps and crashes and voices in the hallways. The room was tiny, a double bed, a very small bathroom, two small desks, and a 'closet'...essentially a bar to hang clothes from with a wooden shelf above. Negatives: bed very soft, and there were drainage problems with the sink and the shower. Positive: the room was clean, and kept up well during our nine night stay. Staff spoke enough English to be quite helpful, (hubby and I speak high school French) and were pleasant. Laundromat a couple of blocks away. All said and done, it was just 'okay', and we would not stay there again.

It's true that "girls" are working on the streets near the hotel but after 10 pm they aren't there anymore. However, the hotel is near Strasbourg-St.Denis Metro station and you can reach everything in Paris in just few minutes. Our room (I stayed there with my girlfriend) was definitely small and bathroom too... however, we didn't went there to stay in the hotel but to sleep there after walking a lot! Parquet was new and the walls had been painted recently. Blankets and towels were clean and breakfast was simple but included in the internet rate (76,5 Eur per night per room). So quite cheap for Paris. I would recommend it to people without great expectations and needs, who are looking for a cheap hotel near the biggest places in Paris.
