We visited Paris last year in feb '05 for the second time. Didnt want to spend too much on hotel as we are hardly indoors. We stayed at this hotel which had the most fabulous location. Had booked it on the net. Site said it was in city centre, etc. I honestly didnt know what to expect. And It was right next to the MADEILEINE!! WE HAD GOT A FABULOUS DEAL TO STAY 4 NIGHTS FOR THE PRICE OF 3!! Earlier when we went to Paris I stayed in the outskirts, so wasted too much time commuting. Now i had to just step out and was in the heart of Paris. The hotel was very clean, staff very courteous, excellent service. The room was slightly small but yet the location and price made up for it!! Bathroom was big! We paid 330 euros for 4 nights. I highly recomend it to all who are looking for clean reasonably priced hotel in the heart of Paris. Cheers!!

A little gem with some rough edges

Superb location for major attractions in Paris, a very friendly classic Paris 3*** hotel with a few quirks that need handled with experience so as not to detract from it's prime location just off Place Madeleine.The lift is really a one person plus case journey,if fit enough stick to the stairs,as the air con is purely cosmetic a good move to a good nights "sweat free" sleep is switch off the mini bar fridge as you go out of an evening and leave off overnight.This allows you to enjoy the good beds,fine clean sheets and good shower and soft towels that add to the friendly attention of the staff.A good tip if there are four in your party is use the taxi Parisiene as their fares are good value and an excellent way to see Paris on the way to your destination

Outdated unclean hotel

We stayed two nights at the Madeleine Haussman Hotel in Paris early February 2008. The room we stayed in was quite spacious but the furniture in it was very outdated. Worse was the cleanliness of the room or better, the lack thereof. The bathroom was not clean at all and therefore our overall experience was not good. Breakfast was served in a very cold basement! The food was average and the setting could not have been worse. Only the location is good for this hotel as is the hotel staff which is friendly. However the staff seems to speak only French, which was not a problem for us. But we noticed that they could not help other guests appropriately who were not fluent in French.
