Paris Bastille - Paris, France

We had a friendly welcoming. The rooms (we were two couples) were large by Parisian standards. The location is good, close to Gare de Lyon, Place Bastille and has easy access to public transport. The only negative aspect was that the rooms were on Rue de Lyon, which can be noisy at moments. So when you lay in bed you can hear a bit of traffic. However nothing unbearable in our case (we stayed the night between friday and saturday).

I stayed at Hotel Bastille with two friends over Christmas. The location was great and the easy access to the Metro was definitely a perk. When we arrived we were a little put off by the man at the door, he wasn't very friendly and insisted we leave our key with him when we left. After a struggle with the one person lift, we found that our key was VERY difficult to use which we received no help for. The room was a decent size, the beds were comfortable, and we appreciated having windows we could open. Overall the room was good for the price, we just found the customer service terrible. We were told that we could only make local calls on the hotel phone and use the pay phone down the street otherwise, which was fine until we weren't allowed to use the hotel phone for a local call. We offered to pay to use the internet to send a quick message as the phones weren't working and were told that there is no access at the hotel, which we later saw them using. Laundry facilities were available.. however it cost 10 euros.. outrageous. All of this would have been taken in stride untl we realized that one of the men who work there had come into our room while we were out to leave towels and used our scissors to trim.. something..and left hair all in our sink.. GROSS! So all housekeeping, privacy, and bad service aside.. the actual rooms are reasonable for the cost and we had a relatively good stay. They were lucky we were so taken with Paris at Christmas to complain!

Estuve con unos amigos en plena Semana Santa de 2007. En general, bien, por precio, pero sobre todo por la situación. Está justo en una de las calles que dan a la Plaza de la Bastilla. Muy bien comunicado porque hay una boca de metro al girar la calle. Rodeado de pubs, restaurantes, tiendas y un supermercado. El personal a su cargo es muy amable y hablan inglés y francés. Pero haría falta una buena restauración, ya que la moqueta es muy antigua, lo que le da un aspecto de pensión antigua en lugar de Hotel de 1 ó 2 estrellas. Las toallas y las sábanas las cambiaban casi todos los días. El desayuno, no incluido, vale 3 €, pero es muy escaso (cereales y poco más). Lo peor es que no es buena zona para descansar y no hay cortinas oscuras que eviten entrar la luz por la mañana cuando empieza a amanecer. 13.08.2007 - Mª de Barbaño (Badajoz-Extremadura)
