One of the worst hotels I've stayed at

Hotels in Paris range from poor to average unless you are paying megabucks - but this was one of the worst places I've stayed. My room (112) was tatty above an alleyway of Indian restaurants which was very noisy until the early hours. The mousetrap under the wardrobe didn't fill me with confidence but luckily didn't have to share my room with any vermin. The bathroom was tired and tatty, the shower sprayed water in every direction except at me. Location wise - it was perfect about 500m from Gare d'Est which I was using early in the morning and a 10-15min walk from Gare de Nord which I arrived at. There are a range of bars, bistros and fast food outlets in easy walking distance. Unlike other reviews, I felt very safe and didn't encounter any problems in the local area. Decided to miss breakfast which looked ok for 8 euros.
