I spent three nights here with my 9-year-old son. The room was basic and small but clean. It did not appear to have been refurbished in quite some time. I would not have been as happy if a younger child was with me; there was a loose electrical outlet right by the door and the handle into the (good-sized) bathroom did not work well. For our needs it was a great value, though. Housekeeping was efficient and the staff at the front desk generally polite, although they could not answer some questions I thought they would have been able to (such as approximately how much a taxi to the Gare du Nord would cost, or the name of a business nearby where I could get Internet access -- they gave me rough directions but could not tell me what it was called). There was a nice collection of tourist literature in the lobby, which was helpful. The location is great (near the Jules Joffrin metro and a bus stop, including the Montmartre bus that you can take to the top of Montmartre). The neighborhood was non-touristy and also not as seedy as some of the neighborhoods just below Montmartre. The small TV and lack of channels mentioned in another review were not a problem for us because my son was exhausted by the end of each day. He was happy to watch a few minutes of soccer and fall asleep. The room was relatively quiet; we did hear the Metro rumbling underneath but not as much street noise as I had expected. Breakfast was served by a very nice lady every morning; we had ordered in advance (which is less expensive). If all you want is a croissant or roll and some coffee or tea, it's fine. We ended up visiting local boulangeries anyway, so I would probably skip the breakfast if I went back. It would have been nice to have Internet access or even just a station somewhere for checking e-mails. But, overall, I thought it was a very good value for Paris.
