Basic, cramped and shabby!!

We booked this hotel with a Eurostar package. The hotel was about a 30 min. walk from Gard du Nord. We arrived around 10.30am and left our bags. We were not really impressed but kept telling ourselves that it was only for 1 night. When we checked in later the receptionist was sitting in the lobby/lounge area watching TV and using her laptop. She could not speak English - still we were in France. Each time we contacted reception we felt we were disturbing staff from using their laptops or watching tv. The room was twin not double as booked. We managed to move but the room was shabby and cramped. It was just like a box with a bed in the middle. We The breakfast room was in the basement and very cramped. Think of the smallest macdonald's you have ever been in! Tables laid with individual jam, cheese spread, butter (1 of each). We were then brought a crossant and 6inch piece of bread, coffee and juice. No plates - had to use the table setting. And no room to move. Very tempted to grab our bags and find somewhere else.

A parte un piccolo appunto riguardante l'insegna dell'hotel, troppo piccola e poco illuminata ( ci siamo passati davanti più volte senza notarla!!!!!!!!), è stato tutto come descritto. Personale accogliente e disponibile, camera pulita e posizione centrale, vicino alla fermata della metro Pigalle. Il quartiere è molto piacevole, illuminato e ricco di fascino e , per la nostra esperienza, per nulla pericoloso.

Great Location

I went during the off season and Paris was great. The hotel sits at the bottom of the butte of montmatre. It is close to sacre coeur, and pigalle train station. The area is a little shady lots of strip joints near by. So be careful coming back at night. The rooms were very small (typical of paris) and was enough for our needs. The bathroom was very nice, good showers. The heater worked, although we had to sleep with the windows open because there was a stale stench of smoke when we were there. We were on the second floor, the third floor where the others were was so bad that we coughed from the smell of the smoke. I would stay here again because the price is cheap and is close to my favorite area of paris. The front desk was very helpful and courteous. They lock the doors late at night so you have to knock really loud.
