Hotel Bassano - Paris, France     

We enjoyed our short stay. Upon our early arrival, rooms were not ready. The receptionist had us look at 3 choices of superior rooms which was nice. We chose 11, one flight up so we could avoid the elevator and it has good privacy with a short entrance hallway. The lobby and the breakfast area are quite small . For Breakfast there were good fresh croissants and fresh fruit etc. The neighborhood of the 16th arrondissement is wonderful. Lots to see within easy walking distance.

the hotel bassano is located just off the champs-elysee and was within walking distance from the air france bus stop (line 2 - assuming you don't have loads of heavy luggage). while our room was not ready when we checked in (we were really early), they graciously offered us hot tea or coffee when we arrived. the lobby area is a bit small and the price of the morning buffet deterred us from trying it. when we finally checked into the room, it was extremely clean and well kept. i found it a little odd that the toilet was separate from the rest of the bathroom and it was in the tiniest closet! but the front desk was always courteous and extremely helpful. i had purchased a one-hour internet card and found that it didn't work after less than an hour's use. they gave me a new one in exchange. this was a bit of a last minute trip and many of the other hotels we tried were sold out. however for the money and service, i think the hotel bassano clearly stood out in a sea of 3-star hotels.
