Le Petit Manoir - Paris, France     

The hotel had already been booked by a family member when we read the previous Trip Advisor reviews, and we were a little bit nervous about what we would find at Le Petit Manoir when we arrived! However, we needn't have worried! Yes, the rooms are very small, there was barely room to move in the shower and you had to sit sideways to fit on to the toilet(!) but it was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Although small, the bathroom looked like it had recently been re-decorated, as did the bedroom. We stayed on the 3rd floor, and some family members were on the 5th - their room was much bigger and so was their bathroom, so we may just have been unlucky! There is a safe in the room, minibar and flat-screen tv. The breakfast was ok, nothing special, but there was plenty of choice. We only saw the Manager who has been mentioned by so many other reviewers once, and he was a bit grumpy (we went out to get some water so we didn't have to get it from the minibar, and when we got back and he saw our shopping bag he gave us a stern warning not to cook in our room - how we would cook without anything to cook on I'm not exactly sure!), but the rest of the staff were lovely. They organised a couple of taxis for us and stored our luggage until it was time for our train. The hotel is in a great location - 10 mins walk from Gare du Nord, 20 mins walk from Opera and 5 mins from some great bars and restaurants. It is also next to 2 Metro stations. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised, and there are far, far worse places in Paris for the same price!

Bedrooms are small and comfortable. Linens and towels changed each day. Excellent shower pity it was in the bath. Forget the breakfast ,poor value at 19euros. Great little cafes just outside the door. Easy access to the Metro.
